Im Berliner Scheunenviertel, unweit des Alexanderplatzes,
den Blick, zunächst auf Synagoge, Sicherheitszaun und die
in sich verwobene Hoflandschaft gerichtet, nimmt die „Begegnung“ ihren Ausgang. Gleich in diesem Bild offenbaren sich Grenzräume. Grenzräume, die Berührungspunkte verbergen: Begegnungen, die sich im Zeitraum von nur 5 Minuten verdichten, entfalten, bisweilen andeuten.
Ein junger Mann fährt von der Metropole aufs Land, in die vermeintliche Ursprünglichkeit des Peripheren, um die Schlachtung einer Gans zu erlernen; dem Tier jenseits von aber stets im Hinblick auf sein zukünftiges Dasein als Produkt zu begegnen. Dieses Zusammentreffen zwischen Mensch und Tier, Jung und Alt, Leben und Tod vollzieht sich mit einer Zartheit und Ästhetik, welche in der Choreografie des Filmischen die in sich inhärenten Fragen nicht ausklammert. Die Rückkehr in den Handlungsrahmen des Urbanen findet in einem mise-en-scène des Nahrungsmittels selbst ihren Ausklang.
In one of the myriad backyards of Berlinʼs Scheunenviertel, in view of the Synagogue, a security fence and within reach of the Alexanderplatzʼs eternally looming tower, our encounter finds its point of departure. This establishing shot sounds all the themes that will unfold over the next six minutes, opening a field of tension comprised as much of lines of demarcation as it is of touching points; some of them oblique, some pronounced.
A young man ventures out into the countryside. At the destination of his journey into a seemingly bygone era, he will learn how to butcher a goose, encountering the animal beyond (but always in view of) its future as a product. This meeting between man and animal, young and old, life and death – though infused with tenderness and grace – does not belie the many questions inherent to it.
The filmʼs intimate choreography finally culminates in a mise-en-scène of the finished meal.

Ancien quartier juif Scheunenviertel de Berlin, notre regard se pose sur la synagogue, puis sur une barrière de sécurité, une cour et Alexanderplatz en toile de fond. Cʼest ici que notre rencontre débute. Cette simple image nous emmène dans des zones frontières dévoilant des points de contact, des rencontres, qui, lʼespace de six minutes, se condensent, éclosent, sʼesquissent.
Un jeune homme quitte la métropole pour rejoindre une périphérie au caractère supposément authentique où il va apprendre à abattre une oie, mais surtout à rencontrer lʼanimal dans lʼespoir dʼentrevoir son existence autrement que sous la forme dʼun produit. Cette rencontre entre lʼhomme et lʼanimal, entre la jeunesse et la vieillesse, entre la vie et la mort, sʼopère avec délicatesse et esthétique, sans repousser néanmoins les questions véhiculées par la chorégraphie des images. À son retour, lʼhistoire nous replonge dans lʼurbanité, le temps dʼun ballet gastronomique.
